Fish don’t have to be boring. Say goodbye to the standard fish bowl and say hello to these innovative and unique tanks.
Interior and product designers are incorporating fish tanks into just
about every piece of furniture, and the coffee table is no exception. Instead of having a stand-alone tank or one
that sits on top of a table, dresser or shelf, the built-in coffee table fish tank is a great
alternative for those who prefer their fish friends to be seamlessly blended into their living area.
The bathroom has become a popular space for fish tanks, especially for those who want to achieve a serene bathroom environment. Musician Kanye West’s bathroom features a bathtub with a massive aquarium on one end, filled with black moor and chocolate Oranda goldfish. While the aquarium is quite big, the result of the design does not overwhelm the room. Instead, the tank allows for a bath time suitable
for relaxing and daydreaming about the ocean.
The Intalbrass’ Moody Aquarium Sink makes for a sink experience unlike any other. There is
something relaxing and whimsical about watching fish swirl about while doing
mundane daily activities such as brushing your teeth. While the shape and overall design of the sink is quite modern, the fish tank is anything but minimalist. The top of the sink is removable to allow for cleaning and has two circular spots for daily feeding. It features a large light to illuminate the sink for those who prefer washing their hands in the dark.
The ASP Spacearium fish tank
goes even further with the idea of ‘reinventing space’ with aquariums. The design
is reminiscent of a plasma television that hangs from the ceiling and curves elegantly along the lines of the
living space. While the aquarium livens up the space with many colours and
movement, it also acts as a unique divider between different areas of a room. The Spacearium fishtanks are perfect for lofts or warehouse style homes that do not have distinctly separate living spaces.
With fish tanks being built around elevators and even bus stops,
fish have come quite far from resting in small glass bowls.
